Hi Daphné Rower,

Please try to reset the license from your RWS account. For this you Login into your RWS account, go on the Licenses tab and click on Reset license button. Since you have a Plus licence, you need to pick the license you wish to reset.

After confirming the reset of the license, please allow the indicated time by the system to pass before trying to activate it again.

Hello, I am having the same problem. New computer, cannot deactivate Studio 2017 from old computer to reinstall on new.

I successfully reset the license from my RWS account: I logged into my RWS account, went on the Licenses tab and clicked on Reset license button. Then I tried the Deactivate button on my old computer. I got the following error message: Deactivation failed. Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel. So I tried to deactivate offline, and I got a different error message: Failed to deactivate offlline. The specified deactivation autorization may not be valid. Validate your deactivation authorization against the authorization in your SDL Account.

I have no idea where to go from here, I troubleshooted both error message but did not find a solution. Can you help?

Hi Lise, 

When you reset a license there's no need to deactivate it anymore, the reset basically returns the license to its Available state.

After one resets a license and the 30 minutes that the system advises to wait pass, you can activate it again. If it's an older license like 2017 the offline activation works better.

So, at this point, if the reset was successful, you need to activate the license now, preferably using the offline activation.

Thanks for your reply. I am still unable to proceed with activating the license on the new computer. It asks me for an activation code, but I don't see one in the license section when I log into my RWS account. The license page confirms that I have one license that is "in use" and "zero" licenses available. There is no plus sign next to the product that I can click on to display an activation code. Are you able to help with this?

Please create your own thread as we cannot verify your account from another user's post because the post is linked to that particular user's email, and we need to be able to check your email and your RWS account.

The activation code of a license is always in the RWS account - under Licenses. The reset button is next to the license code, unless the license is available or the 3 free resets one user has per year have already been used.

So please create your own post and we can go from there - if there something you can do, we'll advise, if there's the need to involve the technical team, we'll open a case on your behalf.
