Help with deactivating Studio 2017 from old computer to reinstall on new.

I successfully reset the license from my RWS account: I logged into my RWS account, went on the Licenses tab and clicked on Reset license button. After waiting 30 minutes, I then tried the Deactivate button on my old computer. I got the following error message: Deactivation failed. Could not create SSL/TLS secure channel. So I tried to deactivate offline, and I got a different error message: Failed to deactivate offlline. The specified deactivation autorization may not be valid. Validate your deactivation authorization against the authorization in your SDL Account.

My Trados software is SDL Trados Studio 2017 (Freelabce) SR1 - 14.1.10015.44945

I have no idea where to go from here, I troubleshooted both error message but did not find a solution. Can you help?

  • Hi Lucien,

Thanks for your reply. I still don't know what I need to do next.

I logged into my RWS account and see that I have 1 license in use and 0 available. As mentioned above, I already did a license reset. In the Licenses and Subscriptions tab, my only two options are: Get offline activation certificate and Deactivate offline.

On my new computer, SDL Studio 2017 was installed but is awaiting activation. It shows that the active license if a 30-day trial only. I now have 16 days remaining to activate the license, but I don't know how to get an activation code. Are you able to help with this?

    Thank you, Lise Cloutier
