Query Regarding Trados Studio 2022 License Entitlement under Previous SMA

We currently hold a perpetual network license for Trados Studio 2021 Professional. Our company maintained an active Support and Maintenance Agreement (SMA) for this license which expired on approximately December 2024. During the period when our SMA was active, the software update for Trados Studio 2022 was made available for download in our RWS account. Our understanding has always been that having an active SMA entitles us to version upgrades released during that period. We are only now in the process of deploying this 2022 update. However, we have discovered that our license key still appears to be for the 2021 version and consequently fails to activate the Trados Studio 2022 SR2 software. 

Could you please review our account and license history? We believe that based on the timing, our license should have been upgraded to the 2022 version under the terms of our previous SMA.

 

If our entitlement to the Trados Studio 2022 version is confirmed, could you please advise on the necessary steps to have our license key correctly provisioned to reflect this?

    We would like to upgrade our network licenses to Trados Studio 2022. These licenses are managed through the License Manager on our GroupShare server.

    Could you please confirm the following:

    1. Is the Trados Studio 2022 SR license upgrade available for our account?
    2. What are the precise steps we need to take to complete the upgrade? When we attempt the upgrade in our RWS account, we receive the message: "In order to process this upgrade, please return any in-use activations."

    Based on this message, is the correct procedure to first deactivate the current licenses on our License Server Manager, and then process the upgrade in our RWS account?

    Finally, once the 2022 licenses are available, can we activate them on our server using our existing Network License Key, or will a new key be generated?

  • 1. Yes, the upgrades are available in your account (see the above screenshot).

    2. Yes, you have to deactivate your Trados 2021 licenses. Trados 2022 can be downloaded from the RWS account, Products and Plans - Downloads. 

    A new license key will be generated once you do all the required steps.
