An error occurred while retrieving your license. Error ID: 125

Hello there,

I have a Trados 2022 Freelance Plus license. One is installed on a laptop, the other on a desktop computer.

However, the laptop seems to be on its last legs.

As a precaution, I wanted to deactivate the license associated with this computer, but I received the following error message: “An error occurred while retrieving your license. Error ID: 125.”

I saw on my RWS account that it might be possible to resolve the issue without contacting your services, but I don't know if this is recommended in my case, nor which option to choose, a reset or an offline deactivation.

The reset seems risky to me because I don't want to mess up the computer that still works and that I use every day for my translations.
Regarding offline deactivation, I have two options, but it's difficult for me to identify the PC associated with each unique activation ID. Based on the dates, I have a rough idea (May 21, 2024), but is there a more reliable way? For example, can this ID be found on the laptop?

Thank you in advance!

Best regards,

Patrick

  • Hi Anca,

Thank you for your responding so quickly!

it's strange that the license server won’t let me deactivate a license. I could understand restrictions on activation, but deactivation? That server is seriously paranoid :)

Anyway, if I have some time, I’ll look into the issue this weekend. I didn’t know/remember there was a limit on the number of activations and deactivations. I thought you could switch licenses around as much as you wanted, since, in any case, it’s impossible to install the software on more than two machines at once, and the license is genuine. My mistake.

Thanks anyway, I'll keep you posted.
