Already activated Studio Freelance 2015 on Win 10 asks for new activation

After a restart today on windows 10 my Studio 2015 Freelance asks for activation, although the product was properly activated on December 25th and I have not deactivated it since. It seems that the installation has "lost" track of its activation and does not remember that it already is activated. Of course I can't activate again, because my account shows that my licence is in use. I use Windows 10 and would like to know what I can do to solve this issue quickly as I am working on pretty big project with a tight deadline.
Any suggestions on what to do?

Kind regards

Ralph Hummel

  • Hello Ralph,

Normally you would log a support request for this using the facility we have for Licensing & Installation issues only, here:

    http://support.xl8.one/

But to save time I have just reset your license. If it happens again you'll know what to do.

    Regards

  • Hi Paul,

Thanks for your help and for pointing me in the right direction concerning future occurences of this problem. I was able to re-activate just now.

I must say though that I am still baffled as to why TRADOS deactivated in the first place. I just cannot believe that a software tool with this price-tag would do something like that, just because I change a network adapter, or is there another reason it might have done that?
Trados is supposed to be a productivity tool and time-saver, but with behaviours like that that make me lose half a day (or potentially more if you had not skipped in so quickly), I am not sure this is really the case.

    Kind regards

PS: I had a look at the link you have provided just to be prepared, and there is no way for me to log on as it asks for some kind of verification key.

Exchanging the network adapter may very well be the cause of your license deactivation because this changes the hardware footprint (the new network adapter has a different MAC address) of your machine and invalidates the license.
If you plan to make any changes to the hardware in future, I recommend that you return the license before you make any changes and reactivate afterwards.

  • Hi Ralph,

Thanks for letting me know, good you're working again.

I don't think price-tag has anything to do with it.  If I purchased an Aston Martin (just dreaming!) and then replaced the lock cylinder I doubt my old keys would work!

That's a new one for me... has to be your browser, can you try a different one?  This is actually the fastest no frills way to log a case we offer and you should just see this:
