Passolo 2016 crashes with error "Nicht genügend Speicher" (Not enough memory) or Runtime Error

Question

When I try to edit a ressource file in Passolo 2016 it always runs into the error "Not enough memory". Working with the software is no longer possible. In some cases when working on another projekt Passolo (psl.exe) crashes with abnormal program termination (Runtime Error!). 
 
 Any suggestions how to make the software usable again?
