I'm trying to validate that the character sequence \\" occurs in the translation if it also occurs in the source. I've set up an inline Pattern which passes the tests on the dialog but fails to find any mismatches when run against the string list. It could be something to do with the \\ as applying the rule with just " works as expected.

Are you using the Apple iPhone/Mac (*.strings) text parsing rule that is already shipped with Passolo? As the shipped rule already contains the correct mapping for escape sequences like \", \\ and \n, I assume that you are using a rule that you have created on your own.
Please use the shipped rule or adapt your own rule to support the above escape sequence mappings.
Using VB script for checking is even more complicated and time consuming to implement. So using the inbuilt text parser settings for strings files is the simplest solution. This brings me back to your initial request. Use the following Inline Pattern
