Product activation required whenever starting a new instance of the application.

Hi, 
I have a problem with the activation code for Passolo 2016 (I'm using a  Passolo 2018 license).
Whenever I start a new instance of the program, it requires me to enter the activation code and I keep getting the error attached bellow. I've entered it right after the installation and I was able to use the program just once and now this keeps happening.
Error dialog box with a red cross icon saying 'Activation failed. Please provide quantity less than or equal to the remaining quantity 0.' with an OK button and links for SDL Account and Alternative activation options.
From other discussions I saw about this, resetting the license might be the solution. 
Can anyone help me with this?
