Incompatibility between Passolo 2015 and Passolo 11.9 (2011) creates big problem.

Our client made a bundle using Passolo 11.9 (2011). We could not open this bundle and downloaded latest Passolo version 2015 and then opened the bundle.
Translated 100K software content and delivered our bundle to our client.

Unfortunately, our client has failed to import the bundle that we delivered. Our client upgraded their Passolo to Passolo 2015, but stil fails import the bundle that we delivered.

Because, we used freelance version, we have not managed to export TM so far. Our client want to send a new bundle, but without TM we are in big trouble.

How can we solve this problem? Is there any way to export TM?

  • Hello Volkan,

New features and functions require that the underlying data model is enhanced and becomes incompatible with older versions. This is why you cannot open a bundle exported from SDL Passolo 2011 in the free SDL Passolo 2015 Translator Edition. Please download and use the correct version which is here ftp://downloadcenter.sdl.com/passolo/2011/SP9/PassoloTranslator2011_SP9_367.exe.

The latest SDL Passolo 2015 Translator Edition is simply not opening older bundles for editing. So I think you downloaded the SDL Passolo 2015. I assume that you disregarded the large conversion message that comes up when you opened the bundle.

Here it is explicitly stated that converted bundles can’t be reimported back into SDL Passolo 2011.

There are various possible reasons why your client cannot reimport back the bundle, especially when they own a limited Team 5 or Team 10 Edition. Your client can contact the SDL support and the support engineers can help to import the bundle.

You can store all translations in your existing bundle into a connected Studio TM or a glossary. In the Home ribbon go to Translate and select Store Translations.

    Hope this helps.
