Hello,
I have managed to translate a very simple text file.
But I would like to write the translations to a target file, which has the identical path and file name as the source file:
Source file name: <plugin name>\plugin.properties
Target file: <plugin name>\plugin.properties
As long as I specify a different name for the target file it works, but not with identical name.
How do I have to set the properties in order to overwrite the source files?

This is not a standard localization concept to translate software files. Passolo is not embedded the files into projects, it is just referencing them. So you can't overwrite the source file while creating the target file because the target file will be created by copying the source file then inserting the project translations.
Your file type .properties seem to be Java files. There is a dedicated file naming convention for Java .properties (https://docs.oracle.com/javase/tutorial/i18n/resbundle/propfile.html) which once was created by Sun and Passolo has an inbuilt target path rule.
