Hello I just switch to Passolo from Visual Localize. So here comes the problem. I have more than 700 strings that should not translate, and I have a copy of all those strings in an excel sheet as well.
I would like to know how to Protect/lock/hide those strings from the source in bulk?
Select all string entries that you want to protect/lock/hide, maybe using a Filter definition, then right-click the selection in the source and select Read-Only or Hidden from the contact menu.

But selecting each string is a manual process right? I would like to know any automation. since I have all the read only strings in an excel. I want to explore the possibilities w.r.t this excel file. Either creating as a TM or as glossaries etc...
When migrating from another tool, this is usually a one-off task that you have to do just once. Yes, this might take several hours, but I’m typically trying to calculate a ROI before proposing to implement this using any kind of automation.
Doing this with automation is possible, but with this little information about the Excel file, my suggestion will be no more than an educated guess. I would export the ID column (if available) from the Excel file into a plain text file with one ID per line. Then I would implement a Passolo macro that reads the text file line by line, searches for each ID in the project source lists and sets these entries as read-only.
This is where ROI becomes important again.
