Passolo Translator Edition vs Professional Edition 2015

Hello,

We use Passolo Translator edition 2015 and the client sent us a bundle created in the Professional edition 2015. If I double click on his bundle, I can't open it. But if I open the Translator Passolo 2015 first and then slide the bundle into Passolo, then I can open and view it. However, the Bulgarian translator cannot open the client's bundle. What is the best way to open and translate the client’s bundle? I tried looking for the option mentioned in this link but I cannot find it: http://producthelp.sdl.com/SDL_Passolo_2015/en/html/ExportImport/TranslationBundles/BundleLic.htm.

Generate licensed translation bundle” but in vain... We cannot find this option.

Thank you in advance for your quick reply.

Kind regards,

Veronika

  • In general the free Translator Edition cannot open any bundle (TBU) that was created with the Professional Edition. The free Translator Edition can open licensed bundles (TBULICxx) only, that were created with a Team or Collaboration Edition. Unlicensed bundles (TBU) can be opened with another Professional or Team Edition. So please ask your client to use a Team Edition and send licensed bundles (TBULICxx) files.

Your observation may be right. The very first SDL Passolo 2015 Translator Edition published in 2014 had a bug that allowed to open TBU files but then wasn't able to save changes which is the correct behavior. Please use the Help menu and check for updates to install the latest CUs.

The online help chapter you are referencing is stating that this option is available in the Passolo Team Edition only.
