Are you able to see the plug in(s) in your download folder?

ie-

There is no need to 'open' anything here- just a simple double-click will install the plug-in.

Yes... look a little harder ;-)  It is impossible for this folder not to exist on any windows computer.  You have either not looked well enough, or you are hiding these particular folders.

Found it, copied the plugin, restarted Studio and it seems to work !!!

It doesn't explain why we are several people having the plugin not automatically launching but here is a solution at last !

I think this is most likely a permission issue somewhere, or maybe using Studio through remote desktop... or something odd related to how Studio has been installed and the way you are working. But I don't know how to resolve it.

As I write this maybe you installed with a user who has admin rights and then routinely run Studio as a user who doesn't? 

Has to be something funny like this and I would also love to get to the bottom of it!

I got my problem solved the same way as for the Plug-in Termexcelerator, which I reported in another thread:

The problem was:

"I downloaded the app via Firefox > clicked the "Display the progress of ongoing downloads" (Cntrl +J) on the browser > clicked the folder icon (to open up the window that shows where the file has been downloaded) > computer opens the window showing the path C: > users > [user name] > AppData > Local > Temp. When double-clicking the file within this window, nothing happened. No errors, just a brief turn of the blue ring, then nothing. The file size looked OK."

The solution:

"Problem was solved when I chose that the app file must be saved onto the Desktop (not the path above, that was offered by Firefox browser). Then, switching to Desktop view, double-clicking downloaded file, THAT launched the SDL app installer and the app now appears on my app list."

Looks like some security/antivirus rules not allowing to "execute" files from the %TEMP% folder.

I've got both admin and user profile on my computer. I use the admin profile to download programmes and my user profile to work. This is a common procedure in order to increase safety.

But usually, for other programmes, if I try to download from my user profile, Windows automatically prompts me for the admin pwd and everything get installed properly and then can be used from the user profile. This never happens with SDL apps.

I've also tried the method described by Pascal Murer in another thread (giving temporary admin rights to the user profile) but it didn't work for me either...

With some apps I need to copy the installer to my C drive (like the Documents folder), because the installer doesn't run from the other location. I get this error message:

I think you don't get any error message, but I'd try to run it from C and let's see if it works.

Most apps (sdlplugins) are not installers and the plugin manager simply copies the file to the plugin folder ready for Studio to install them when you start it up.

I'm not sure why this problem occurs and we will investigate this, but it seems we have found the main problem.  The resolution for now is to login as the user with admin rights to install the plugins or manually copy the plugin to the appropriate folder yourself..
