Antidote 10 plug-in installation on Studio 2019

I have just purchased Antidote 10, it is correctly installed on my computer (works in MS Office suite among other but I cannot manage to install the plugin for Studio.

When I download the plugin, it goes into the following folder : C/Users/User name/AppData/Local/Temp

When I double-click on it, nothing happens. I have tried this with Studio open or closed.

I have tried to copy the plugin file in C/Users/User name/AppData/Roaming/SDL/SDL Trados Studio/15/Plugins/Packages and to launch it from there but nothing happens either.

I have looked at the other questions on the matter but nothing worked.

Please note that I encountered this same kind of problem previously for other SDL plugins from the App store...

Any idea ?

Thanks in advance,

Johanne

  • Solved the problem. Apparenty the installer requires Administrator permissions but is unable to ask for them. So if your everyday Windows user account only has Standard permissions (which security-wise is good practice) SDL Plugin Installer simply won't run. To install a new plugin, you need to:

    1. Log out of your Standard user account
    2. Log in as Administrator
    3. Give your Standard account Administrator permissions
    4. Reboot your computer (Important! In my case, plugin installation did not work without this step.)
    5. Log in to your everyday user account, which now has Administrator permissions
    6. Install the plugin you want - double-clicking it now opens the SDL Plugin Installer as expected
    7. Log out
    8. Log back in to your Administrator account
    9. Change your everyday account's permissions back to Standard
    10. Reboot again to make sure the changed permissions stick
    11. Log in as Standard user

The procedure seems unnecessarily complex to me. The plugin installer should be able to ask for Administrator credentials when they are required, as other installers do.

  • Hi I am having the same problem. I have downloaded the plug-in and it just doesn't run. I double click it and the installer window never opens, only opens SDL trados, but the plugin isn't in it.

I have an administrator account, so it's not like Pascal's problem.

I did double click or open the plug in file. No installer opens.

I have rebooted my computer numerous times.

I only have one plug in file in my computer.

I do have Antidote and SDL installed on my computer, and they are both recent, valid versions.

I'm at a loss. Would you be aware of any other way to open the plug in file to make it RUN?

Right now it opens with SDL Trados, but they do give me the option to open it with "anotehr app".

Thank you so much in advance for your help.
