Can't import (into Studio 2019) an XML file produced with pub2xml (from Publisher) because of an "illegal hexadecimal character". Any idea?

Question

Using pub2xml (version 2.1.0.0) and the latest version of Microsoft Publisher (2020) (version 2007, Build 13029.20308 Click-to-Run), I successfully exported a 24-page Publisher document to produce a small XML file (228KB), but when I import this XML file into Trados Studio 2019 SR2 (latest version, 5.2.7.2849), Studio tells me: "hexadecimal value 0x0E is an invalid character". 
 
 So I open the XML file in Notepad++, thinking perhaps I can delete the odd character and Studio will be happy, so I open Notepad++ and go to Find and I search for "\x0E" as a regular expression (this seems to be Notepad's regex notation), but Notepad++ says it can't find the character in question. See below: 
 
 If the character is not in the XML file, then does this mean there is a bug in the Trados Studio 2019 XML filter? Any idea on how to resolve this?

Hi Patrick 
 As you are using Notepad++, download a plugin that allows you to validate the XML file, for instance XpatherizerNPP / XML Tools for notepad++ and validate the file. If there are validation errors in the XML file, you shoould get a message with the line and column of the character that is causing this problem.

 You might find that if you drag and drop the file into Firefox then this browser reports the invalid characters in a nice easy way to find them in the file and then you can correct them.

Dear Felipe, 
 Sorry for the late reply. The client converted the Publisher file to InDesign to circumvent the problem, HOWEVER I wanted to test your solution in case the same problem occurs again in the future. So I did install the "XML Tools" plug-in in Notepad++ as you suggested (I couldn't find out how to install the Npp Xpatherizer) and what do you know! It found the error , I was able to erase the illegal character and Trados Studio opened the XML file!
