For me it's the other way round as Chinese Traditional is not supported for API access including plugins (https://developers.deepl.com/docs/resources/supported-languages): when in the Trados Studio 2021 Plugin (5.8.28.0) or Studio 2024 Plugin (7.0.4.3) you choose Chinese Traditional, what you get is Chinese Simplified.

It is supported for Deepl document translations or through the web browser it may be different (https://support.deepl.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019925219-Languages-included-in-DeepL-Pro).

That's odd enough since the fix was supposed to address these issues.

Hi all,

I did some testing and can confirm: with Studio 2024 18.0.0.1013 and Deepl Plugin 7.0.5.0 this works as expected. I cannot test it with Studio 2022 as I haven't got access to this version.

I've created the sample file that I saw in your screenshot with Chinese (Simplified, China) -but I don't have the language mixed up in target:

In fact, if I go to DeepL desktop to check the output, it also confirms the Chinese Simplified:

It's unusual that it doesn't work in your case.

However, may I ask you to do the following: 

1. Go to this location: C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17

2. Delete the highlighted .bin files:

3. Add the provider in project settings - and check again

Please ensure you have done the same in your templates, if you use them

I'm sorry to say, apparently you don't know anything about Traditional Chinese or Simplified Chinese. Because the example you gave exactly proved my problem. 

In this first screen capture you just shared, no matter what the bottom-right red square says "Chinese Simplified", the translated text is exactly Traditional Chinese!

Ask around or find anyone who actually recognizes Traditional Chinese, and he/she would tell you, the text is Traditional Chinese, not Simplified Chinese.

I'm well aware that, in the DeepL desktop, Simplified Chinese translation is correctly provided. I wrote so at the very beginning of this thread. And, that's exactly why Deepl Support request me to seek help from your APP team. Because apparently it's NOT their problem. The developer of the Trados DeepL app is responsible for this.

Oana Nagy , I tried removing the 2 .bin files as you instructed, and added back the DeepL provider, yet no luck, I'm still getting Traditional Chinese results. 

Oh, there is another piece of information I forgot to mention. I've been using Deepl app in Trados Studio 2022 for quite some time. It had been working as expected until I recent received the app update notification in my Trados Studio. So I just clicked upgrade in the Notification panel and since then, DeepL went wrong by giving Traditional Chinese translation in Studio. So, maybe the quickest solution is to revert to the previous Deepl version for Trados Studio 2022 SP2. 

I tried the DeepL app download list, but could not find the previous version, it only contained the latest version for Trados Studio 2022 SP2. And none of the other versions apply to Studio 2022 SP2.
