DeepL Plugin produces no translation output in Trados Studio 2024 Professional

Hi everyone

I work with Trados Studio 2024 professional with a single user licence. TS is fully updated.

I have been using the DeepL plugin for one year now without issues.

However, as of yesterday, it is no longer working.

  • The plugin is updated, the project TM settings have DeepL translation provider listed and activated.
  • The search TM and pretranslation batch task are set to use NMT.
  • Trados Studio goes through the batch task motions, but the reopened file shows no NMT entries.
  • All target language segments remain empty.

I'm not sure how to proceed.

It makes no difference if

  • I add a glossary to DeepL via TM settings;
  • I change formality setting from Default to any other option available;

  • I change search settings in Trados Studio to "Search segments in MT even if a TM match has been found";Trados Studio settings showing options for translation memory and machine translation with minimum match values and search options.
  • I switch from "Keep existing translation" to "Overwrite existing if a better match is found";
    Trados Studio pretranslation settings with options for handling existing translations and creating machine translation for no match segments.

Any ideas?

BTW, Language Weaver has not been working since the last update. As I'm not allowed to use it any more as per my data protection officer, I ignored this issue in the past. It may be related though.

It makes no difference, if I rely on the system app only or add the RWS store plugin for it...

    Your plugin-settings do not fit what I have. Close Studio. Please uninstall DeepL by completely removing the folder C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins\Unpacked\DeepL Translation Provider and the plugin package from here: C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins\Packages. Restart Studio and install DeepL anew from within the program. You should see these settings:

    DeepL Translation Provider settings window with options to enter API Key, translation options including 'Send source as plain text', 'Preserve formatting', and a highlighted 'Resend Draft'. Language pair set to 'de-DE' to 'pl-PL', formality to 'Prefer_More', and no glossary selected.

    The highlighted option is needed to force DeepL to show results when you are in an edited segment.

    Thank you for your help. Deleting the unpacked folder and uninstalling the plugin did the trick. Still, the "not cooperating" plugin put up quite a fight. Even after deleting the "unpacked" folder, I had to "uninstall" it and restart Trados Studio several times to make sure that the plugin stayed "uninstalled" before installing it from the updated "packages" folder again. Slight smile

    Now both batch task pre-translation and segment-by-segment translation without minimum TM matches work again without problems.
