Problem opening Trados 24

Question

Hi there. 
 I installed Trados 24 yesterday, and after installing various plugins, now I cannot open it anymore. 
 I also get this screen when it is trying to open (translation: Trados has detected a plugin that is not signed and created by third parties and not valid. It can contain a virus or other malware. Do not load it unless you trust the source) 
 
 I have tried repairing and reinstalling but no luck.. 
 Anyone else had this problem? 
 Is there a way around it?

 This suggests that you are using a plugin that someone provided that has not been signed. Either that or you already attempted to install it and you've managed to add multiple copies of the same thing which can sometimes trigger this warning. So the solution is to go to the folder locations I provided and delete every file and folder you see in there: 
 %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 PLEASE MAKE ABSOLUTELY SURE YOU ARE IN THE FOLDER I MENTIONED AND NOT SOMEWHERE YOU THINK IS THE RIGHT FOLDER! Similar is not enough! 
 Then, go to the appstore and download the 2024 version for this app: 
 appstore.rws.com/.../202 
 It would probably better if you used the integrated appstore to get it because then you should be sure to take the right one. You cannot use a plugin from an older version of Trados Studio and I think this is what you have probably done.

 That is not the plugins folder the AI referred to. If you delete files in here you'll need to do a complete reinstall of the application to get them back. 
 The folders in question are these, but most likely it'll be your appdata roaming folder: 
 %APPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 %LOCALAPPDATA%\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 To get to these you copy/paste the exact path I provided above into File Explorer and they will expand to the right location. So for me they would take me here: 
 c:\Users\paul\AppData\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins\ 
 c:\Users\paul\AppData\Local\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins\ 
 c:\ProgramData\Trados\Trados Studio\18\Plugins 
 If you cannot see these folder locations then you need to make sure you are showing your hidden files and folders in windows as they are normally hidden by default. 
 Showing hidden files and folders in Windows 10 and Windows 11 is a straightforward process. There are two primary methods: directly through File Explorer or via File Explorer Options (also known as Folder Options). 
 
 Method 1: Using File Explorer (Quick Method) 
 
 This is the fastest way to toggle hidden items on and off. 
 For Windows 11:

Open File Explorer (you can click the folder icon on your taskbar or press Windows key + E ).

In the File Explorer window, click on the View tab at the top.

Hover your mouse over Show .

Select Hidden items from the sub-menu.

Hidden files and folders will now be visible, often appearing with a slightly translucent icon. 
 For Windows 10:

Open File Explorer (you can click the folder icon on your taskbar or press Windows key + E ).

In the File Explorer window, click on the View tab at the top.

Locate the Show/hide group and check the box next to Hidden items .

Hidden files and folders will now be visible, often appearing with a slightly translucent icon. 
 
 Method 2: Using File Explorer Options (More Advanced Settings) 
 
 This method provides more granular control, including the option to show protected operating system files. 
 For Windows 11:

Open File Explorer .

Click the three dots (...) icon in the toolbar near the top of the window.

Select Options from the dropdown menu.

In the "Folder Options" window, go to the View tab.

Under "Advanced settings, " find Hidden files and folders .

Select the radio button next to Show hidden files, folders, and drives .

(Optional) To also show protected operating system files (which are usually hidden for a good reason), scroll down and uncheck the box next to Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) . A warning message will appear; click Yes if you wish to proceed.

Click Apply , then OK .

For Windows 10:

Open File Explorer .

Click the View tab at the top.

Click Options on the right side of the ribbon, and then select Change folder and search options .

In the "Folder Options" window, go to the View tab.

Under "Advanced settings, " find Hidden files and folders .

Select the radio button next to Show hidden files, folders, and drives .

(Optional) To also show protected operating system files, scroll down and uncheck the box next to Hide protected operating system files (Recommended) . A warning message will appear; click Yes if you wish to proceed.
