Deepl with Trados 2024

Hello. I updated to Trados 2024 and installed the Deepl API as required, but I am experiencing a problem. When I receive a text that has already been translated for review, Deepl does not suggest an alternative translation as it should, regardless of whether the segment has been confirmed or not. However, in the settings, the option to provide an MT response is checked, even if the TM search does not return any results. In other words, even though the segment has already been translated, it should still provide its own MT translation in any case. Any ideas on how to fix this? Tks

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the DeepL API configuration and any error messages received during the process.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

To address the issue you're experiencing with DeepL not suggesting alternative translations in Trados 2024, please follow these steps:

**Step 1:** Verify that the DeepL API is correctly configured. Ensure that your API key is valid and that the DeepL Machine Translation Provider is set up properly in Trados Studio. You can check the health status of the DeepL provider in the RWS App Store under Installed Add-ons.

**Step 2:** Check your project settings. Go to Project Settings > Language Pairs > [Your Language Pair] > Translation Memory and Automated Translation. Ensure that the option "Look up segments in MT even if a TM match has been found" is enabled. This setting allows DeepL to provide translations even when a TM match exists.

**Step 3:** Confirm that the "Apply automated translation when no TM match has been found" option is checked in the general settings of Trados Studio. This ensures that DeepL translations are considered when there are no matches in the TM.

**Step 4:** If the issue persists, try reinstalling the DeepL plugin. Uninstall it from the Add-Ins tab and then reinstall it from the RWS AppStore.

**Step 5:** Lastly, ensure that you are using the latest version of Trados Studio and the DeepL plugin. Check for updates within the application to ensure you have the most recent features and fixes.

If you follow these steps and still encounter issues, please provide any specific error messages or additional details about your configuration for further assistance.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.
