Glossary Converter does not detect Multiterm

I recently upgraded to SDLTrados 2015, and when trying to convert my Excel glossaries with Glossary Converter, I get an error message: "Cannot detect Multiterm even using tbx as term base format" (translated roughly from Spanish). Never had a problem with Glossary Converter before. I uninstalled and reinstalled the latest version available, and still have the same problem. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi , , , , , , ,

If you can still reproduce the problem with the Glossary Converter not working anymore and can send me your logs it would be really helpful. Logs from these two locations would be useful, just for the time you recreated the problem.

    SDL Trados MultiTerm
C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\SDL\SDL MultiTerm\MultiTerm[x] (where [x] is the version number)
Alternatively, you can open the SDL MultiTerm application and go to Tools > View log file and save the file.

Application logs and System logs from the Microsoft Windows Event Viewer
Open the Microsoft Windows Event Viewer:

    - Click START > Run… > type eventvwr > click OK.
    - Go to Windows Logs in the Event Viewer tree.
    - Right-click on Application and choose Save all events as... from the list and save it using the *.etvx extension.
    - Repeat the steps above for the System log.

Also, if you have an explanation of what actually happens when you try it would be helpful too. Then you can send them to pfilkin@sdl.com either by email (if they are less than 10Mb when zipped) or via dropbox, googledrive, wetransfer or something similar.

    Thank you for your help.

    Regards

    Paul

  • Thanks

I dropped you an email with a link to a Beta version of the GC which "may" solve this problem.

  • Hi Paul,

This is what I get from the even viewer. My situation is similar to nlefevre. I am willing to test the Beta version if that can help the community.
