Files show In Review status and do not properly reflect progress

Hello.

My files are showing In Review status no matter what I do, and do not show actual progress.

The only "strange" thing I may be doing is to use the Signed Off segment status to somehow add to the statistics those segments I will not translate (such as names or phrases that come already in the target language). I know that if I leave the segment blank it will pass "as is" to the target document, but that way I am not fully aware of my progress. In fact, I have suggested a "not to be translated" status, with such effect: passing the segment "as is". My workaround is to copy source to target and mark as Signed Off. It works fine.

Anyway, the issue at hand is that the files show as In Review. I have tried counting translation, analyzing the file, changing something in any segment's target to update the status... and nothing works.

In the editor view, the segments are counted perfectly well, in the statistics too, but the status remains In Review and the progress bar does not add the translated segments.

Any ideas?

  • Oddly... it does sum the Signed-off segments but not the Translated segments.

Please note in both the file's statistics and the graph that there are plenty Translated segments that do not show in the file's progress bar.

    Thanks!

  • Check the Studio help for explanation of meaning of the Status field. It's actually not what you think it is.
  • Hi

    Thank you for the screenshot.

Let me first start by clarifying what the difference of the 'In Translation' and 'In Review' status is in Studio please.

Whenever you open your file with double-clicking or by selection 'Open for translation', the status of the file becomes 'In Translation'. In Translation status, the progress moves by setting the segments to 'translated' status, so the more segments are confirmed, the higher the percentage will be. When the Translation status is at 100%, it means that all segments are confirmed, i.e. translated.
In the other case, if you open the file for Review, the calculation changes. To move the progress bar, you have to review the file, that is approve or reject the segments. If all segments are approved, then the file with 'In Review' status will be at 100%.
I hope this is clear this way?

As for your screenshot, as far as we can tell the progress bar seems to be correct, as there are only 3 segments of the 63 segments reviewed / signed off. Therefore to move the progress of the review please approve more segments, or revert the file back to 'In Translation' mode by opening it for Translation and then saving it, and then the progress bar percentage will be recalculated based on how many segments you have set to 'translated' so far.

Please let me know if this answered your question.

    Best wishes,
    Greta

  • Hello, Greta

I appreciate your help very much.

The issue is, precisely, that I never opened the file for Review, I have always opened it for Translation. And no matter what I do, the progress bar is wrong. I reopen it for translation, as you indicate, change any segment and commit it, but the software still shows Review status and the progress bar remains the same.

Please note in my screenshot that the sum of Translated plus Signed-off should be 100%.

I have been suffering the issue for many months. The first solution I found here was to open it for Translation and do any change to any segment. So, I did change a segment and commit it. It worked many times, but not always. It happens to many files, not only this one. Only once or twice I have opened for Review and Accepted everything, but this way I lose my Signed-off segments which I need for statistics and control purposes.

I believe it is a bug in the software, but I am unable to reproduce precisely when the file turns into In Review, as I said, I never opened it for Review, so I cannot imagine why it would show a Review status.

    Please help.
