How to make sure Studio doesn't fill target segments left empty on purpose with the source segment content in the target file?

Hi, 
 I'm trying to convince Studio that I've left some target segments empty on purpose, but to no avail: The target file always shows the source segment content. What do I need to do in order to prevent this from happening? 
 It's a plain docx file, and it seems to happen no matter what the segment status. 
 Any help appreciated!

 Can you provide a small example file where this occurs for you? Maybe it's related to specific content and not just any file so this might help to get to the bottom of the problem. You can attach a small sample file in here:

 This is very odd. I opened your sdlxliff, saved the target and get this: 
 DELETED IMAGE - but the empty segment displayed as expected 
 Can you tell me what version of Office you are using?

On the problem... I'm wondering if this is related to the version of office being used. I have noted that some target files can't be opened in Word when processed in Studio using an older version of Word, but they're fine when handled in a new version such as Word 2016. Maybe the problem you are encountering is related to this somehow.

No I'm not. Been at the ATA this week so didn't install it! However, are you using the ML filetype or the older DOCX filetype in 2015? My guess is you are using the ML filetype and you're also using an older version of Word.
