How come a TM grows inexplicably after updating to SDL Trados 2021?

Question

How come a TM grows inexplicably after updating to SDL Trados 2021? 
 It grows from 63 KB to 180 MB for example. And this is only a small TM. The large TMs use so much server space now that we will have a memory shortage by the end of spring instead of the end of the year. 
 Does anyone know how to fix this?

 I guess the original size was 63 MB, right? 
 If so, if the TM was from a previous version, then it makes sense if it grows to 180 MB. The reason is that new version uses UpLift technology, which allows you to leverage fragment matches. In order to able to use this technology, some data is added and indexed in the TM.

 Very unlikely. Even an empty SDLTM is larger than 63 KB.

 I'm pretty sure you must have these sizes wrong. 18MB is nothing... you could store hundreds of these on a phone and it wouldn't complain, never mind a computer hard drive. 
 I guess, one solution for you if you're really struggling is to move to the cloud and use Trados Live. You could put all your TMs in the cloud and then the size won't matter at all for you.
