TS 2019 SR2- TM instability and constant TM issues - TranslationProviderThrewException

Question

Hi 
 I am getting this fatal error for no apparent reason. I do not have any in-file errors. I have upgraded the TM several times in an attempt to resolve this, and it is a new TM anyway, but it does not work. 
 How to solve this?

 Just following up on this one. I believe the support team have spent some time on this with you and it looks as though they are unable to get to the bottom of the real problem. They can't find anything particularly wrong with Trados Studio here and feel as though the issue is likely to be related to the size of your TM which is well over a million TUs.  If you are willing I think it would be worth trying a couple of things: 
 
 split your TM into bite sized chunks and then see it Trados performs better for you when using multiple TMs. Despite the KB article I don't think you'd need to go that small, but perhaps try splitting it into around 250k TUs in each one and just test. I'll happily help you with the split if you need it? 
 take a look at loading your TM into Trados Live. In theory this should be able to handle larger TMs, so you could try loading your one large TM into the cloud and test it there. But I'd also recommend you test the same split files in the cloud as well. 
 
 I think you are working on the limitations of Trados and whilst I have personally managed to work with some pretty large resources in Trados there are some rules I try to follow. One would be not to use fragment matching, so I never "upgrade" TMs that are this large. For one thing my PC would run out of memory most of the time trying to achieve an "upgrade" of that nature, and the TM itself would also become so large it would really be unworkable. So I always use Trados Studio 2019 or even 2017 to create my TMs as I won't be forced to "upgrade". You have 2019 so that part should be possible. 
 I also make sure I don't use external or shared (OneDrive, Dropbox etc.) drives for these type of resources as the continual synching is ar too much for the connection speed I'm able to get and this also causes problems. So I would always move them somewhere on my local machine and away from any sort of live synching capability. f I want the backups then I do them when I've stopped working, or use Trados Live. 
 I know this won't be the answer you wanted, but perhaps we can try to do something practical to find what does work for you and what won't. Then you will at least be in a position to take a decision on what you will do next based on what you can and can't live with.
