Search and replace numbers, words

Question

Hello, 
 I need to change 
 [variable number of digits] euros 
 to 
 EUR [same digits] 
 In some cases, the commas need to be converted to periods, and vice versa, but in other cases, they're already correct. 
 I found a great regex solution the other day somewhere on RWS, but I neglected to save the link. 
 Could someplace please send me the relevant link(s)? 
 Also, if there is regex tutorial for Trados, that would be great.

 This is probably the right place to start. Googling for solutions isn't really the best approach. Regex is not a Trados thing, it's a well know syntax used to support pattern recognitions in many flavours. Trados, as it's a .NET application written in mostly C# uses the C# (.NET) flavour. 
 The best resource for learning this will be websites like https://www.regular-expressions.info/ which is provided by the developer of RegexBuddy which I would recommend for anyone serious about getting to grips with regular expressions. But there are many resources available online and if you want stuff just about the use of Regex in Trados here's a few: 
 A book by Anthony Rudd - Practical Usage of Regular Expressions: An introduction to regexes for translators 
 Some bloggers do this on and off...

 It's always more helpful if you provide actual examples of what you want to do because otherwise you leave it to some helpful person to guess what you need and they may spend their time doing something that isn't what you really need. 
 For example, I think you mean you have something like these: 
 2 euros 12 euros 1,345 euros 3,456,789 euros 
 And you want to have this: 
 EUR 2 EUR 12 EUR 1,345 EUR 3,456,789 
 To do this you could search for this: 
 ([\d,]+) euros 
 And replace with this: 
 EUR $1

 As Paul said, just if you want to catch periods as well, your regex might have to look like this: 
 ([\d\.\,]+)\seuros 
 where "\s" stands for "(almost) any space character". 
 Replacing commas for period etc. do that as a seperate step as regexes tend to get awfully complex if you try to do too much in one step - and sometimes it's just impossible.
