WS 10.4.5 | CRQ-8945 | The File Type Support (FTS) Server cannot connect to the database if the password contains special characters

Symptoms:

If you are using an Oracle database and your database password contains special characters such as number signs (#) or underscores (_), the FTS Server cannot connect to it.

Resolution:

You can fix this issue by upgrading to the latest version of the FTS Server, available on FTP.

To do so:

1. Back up the Sdl.WorldServer.FileTypeSupport.Server.HostProcess.exe.config and Sdl.WorldServer.FileTypeSupport.Server.Launcher.exe.config files.
2. Uninstall your existing instance of the FTS Server.
3. Copy the FileTypeSupportServer.msi installer from FTP to your machine.
4. Run the FileTypeSupportServer.msi installer to upgrade to version 10.4.5.1628 of the FTS Server.
5. Compare the new Sdl.WorldServer.FileTypeSupport.Server.HostProcess.exe.config and Sdl.WorldServer.FileTypeSupport.Server.Launcher.exe.config files with the ones you backed up. If there are any additional properties in the new files, add them to the backup files as well.
6. Restore the backed up Sdl.WorldServer.FileTypeSupport.Server.HostProcess.exe.config and Sdl.WorldServer.FileTypeSupport.Server.Launcher.exe.config files.
7. Restart the FTS Server.

If you cannot upgrade, connect to the Customer Support Web Portal and log a case. You need an account to log a case. If you do not have an account, contact your company's SDL Support Account Administrator.
