A number of our customers have upgraded to the WorldServer 11 release, but retained the legacy (aka Classic) UI as the default. Of course we encourage all of our customers to be on the latest supported version, but there are several reasons why you may want to keep the older look and feel:
- to maintain familiarity for users accessing the system
- to not have to port over any UI customizations
essentially decoupling these additional activities from the upgrade process itself.
This is fine and makes good sense in many cases but does leave you unable to access the new UI pages without manually changing URLs. There is however a very quick & easy way to eliminate this inconvenience using a standard WorldServer feature :)
Simply create a Useful Link with the following definition:
Name: WSXi UI
Description: The new WorldServer user interface
URL: /ws/home?token=-1
You can then use the additional, Workgroup, Workflow Roles and Locales options to limit availability of the link to only certain users, depending on your needs. You should not enable this for Transport users.
