How to remove write-protection/read only mode?

Translator Edition 2018. Version 18.0.171.0

A project with three t18 files.

I can open the files, but cannot write the translations (in two of the three files) because they are write/protected or open in read only mode.

Two other people do no have issues opening and working with the same files.

I have tried uninstalling the software, restarting the computer, cleaning the registry, reinstalling the software ...

Even more strange: after uninstalling/restarting/reinstalling the software, the program will show the files I opened BEFORE the software was uninstalled. Shouldn´t the list be empty?

  • In my experience, uninstalling and reinstalling only helps in the rarest of cases. It is a lot of work and involves many risks.

The fact that after the reinstallation the Recent list was present again is due to the fact that this is user data and not installation data.

SDL Passolo has a feature that allows project managers to split multiple modules to be translated by different people. Each bundle has the same and complete content to provide the full context but different parts are set to read-only so that synchronization errors can be avoided.

An indicator would be that the most left column of the table view is gray (read-only) and that system generated comments are displayed in the comment field.
