Can we create new versions of topics in bulk?

Our editors would like to be able to create new versions for each topic that will be updated for the next release, and then assign those new versions to the various authors. It takes a lot of time to create new versions one by one but we are not seeing an option to multi-select and create new versions in either Content Manager or Publication Manager. Alas, I can't find an answer in the online help, which makes me suspect that it can't be done. But can it? Thanks!

  • Perhaps this isn't supported but you can do it through Publication Manager. Open the publication in Publication Manager and go the Baseline tab. Select the topics you want to version and select Check Out from the context menu. When the Check Out dialog displays, make sure to select Apply To All (Create new version should already be selected.). The properties for each topic will open in succession and you can modify the metadata and assign the author. Depending on how your system is configured, the new versions will likely open in your XML editor. In XMetaL at least, you can choose Check in All...
