To get a clearer picture of why this happened, if you could post the error stack trace this would be great
Sorry for the multiple questions, but answers to the following should help us find the problem.
Were you working on the same PPX in Studio 2015 before you upgraded to Studio 2017?
Have you upgraded the Operating System and/or moved computers?
What are the Language (including flavours) of the PPX?
What Languages did you install (including flavours) with Studio 2017?
Does the PPX contain files with a none SDLXLIFF format?
Do you have any SDL APPS installed?

Sorry for the delay,
"I've now got from the PM the sdlppx-files and the TM as an sdltm-file. I've now managed to load the sdlppx-files, but when I tried to load the sdltm-file, I got the message, you'll find attached."
You cannot add anything to the PPX -
Ie. you cannot upload a PPX in Studio and then add an additional file. (this explains the error message).
You would indeed need to either:
1) contact your client and ask for a new PPX- this time with the TM included in the PPX package (recommended).
2) unzip the PPX outside of Studio (you WILL need the clients prior consent though for this!) then add the individual files and TM in to your own project.
Using this method will mean you are NOT able to send a return package though.

I have sent you an email.
Just click on the link- follow the instructions and fill out the details needed.
(this is just like team viewer) and then when you have connected i can do a remote session with you and get this back up and running.
You also have a Level 2 PSMA (just noticed) so you can also log a support ticket via your SDL account if you wish.
