How can I troubleshoot 404 error in Publication Manager preview of a map/topic?

Hi,

I am having an issue with Publication Manager (13.0.2).

I can successfully open a Publication from our SDL Tridion Docs CMS but when I click on one of the submaps within the publication it does load the map versions in the top-right window pane but it fails to load the preview in the bottom-right window pane. Instead it gives a 404-Not Found error.

The publication and submap exist in the CMS but Pub Manager is failing to load preview.

Can anyone advise where I can start troubleshooting this problem please?

Any advice appreciated,

Regards,

Ann

  • Hey Ann,

I think the best way to troubleshoot this is by contacting support. But a few things you can try already:

    1. Check the logfiles:

    > Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run Dialogue

    > Enter: %localappdata%\sdl\InfoShare Client

    > Open the folder that matches your Version (for example 13.0 or 14.0)

    > Open the log Folder

    > Open Publication Manager.log and scroll to the bottom to see the most recent information

    2. Try clearing your cache:

    > Open Publication Manager

    > Click Tools > Local Storage

    > Make sure nothing is checked out. If something is checked-out, check it in first before continuing to the next step.

    > Close Publication Manager and Open your Documents folder

    > Rename the SDL folder to something else, for example SDL.Backup

    > Open Publication Manager again and see if you can reproduce the issue

    3. Try clearing the Preview's Cache

    > Close all CLient Tools

    > Press the Windows Key + R on your keyboard to open the Run Dialogue

    > Enter: %localappdata%\sdl\InfoShare Client

    > Open the folder that matches your Version (for example 13.0 or 14.0)

    > Rename GeckoProfile to something else, for example GeckoProfile.Backup

    > Open Publication Manager again and see if you can reproduce the issue

  • Thanks for advice.

We just resolved it by checking the path to SDL Tridion Docs Content Manager web site root address from Tools->Accounts->Properties->Repository.

It was pointing to ISHWS instead of ISHCM so couldn't resolve connection to the Content Manager.

    Regards,

    Ann
