How to resolve "Cannot access a disposed object" error using SDL Tridion Docs

Hello, 
 Two of our writers are repeatedly experiencing an error when working in XMetaL via the SDL Authoring Bridge. It happens on checking out a topic from SDL Tridion Docs. The pop-up showing the error message says "Following error occurred: Cannot access a disposed object. Object name: 'WorkAreaForm'". On clicking OK on the pop-up they can then work with the topic in XMetaL but the error happens on trying to check back in the topic to the CMS. The error message displays again (often multiple times after clicking OK), and the only way to close the topic is to force exit XMetaL using Task Manager, which means it is impossible to save the changes made to the topic. Is anyone familiar with this problem? 
 We are using SDL Tridion Docs 13 SP2 and XMetaL(R) Author Enterprise 12.0 and SDL Tridion Docs - Authoring Bridge 1.30.2

A quick web search points to the possibility that this is related to timeouts. Perhaps try increasing the timeout /retry values available in SDL Authoring Bridge. 
 From XMetaL 12.0 menu, navigate to SDL Tridion Docs > Options > SDL Tridion Docs > Accounts > Settings ... I think we have ours typically set to 120 seconds and 2 retries. 
 Its a guess but I hope it helps.
