Do you use complex conditions?

Hello community,

I'm Gizem Karabulut, a product owner for Tridion Docs.

We are considering a new feature that would enable authors to apply conditions when writing content in Draft Space. I would like to ask the following questions to gain a better understanding of your use cases:

  • Do you use complex conditions (combining multiple conditions with "And" or "Or") to filter your content?
  • If you use complex conditions, how often do you need to apply them? Does every publication have them or just a few?
  • Would your SME authors appreciate the ability to apply these complex Boolean conditions within Draft Space, or would that be too much complexity?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  • Good morning Gizem!

I think it is very useful that you ask questions like this! Up through the times I have used both conditions and complex conditions many times in many publications, both in DocBook and DITA. Experience has taught me to be VERY careful with conditions, so now I avoid them in topics and only use them in maps. This means that if you should include conditions in DraftSpace, I would not teach my SMEs to use it. Our publications are complicated enough, and I'd rather use the KeyRef or ConKeyRef to "condition" the information in topics.

    Regards Ragnar
