Is there any way to reduce the execution time of translation jobs in Tridion Docs?

In Tridion Docs, performing translation jobs takes a very long time. Even for a simple topic, it takes at least 20 minutes to complete the translation job. So I'd like to ask why it takes so much time? Is there any way to shorten this duration? Thanks

  • Hi,

Could share a bit more information on what you are actually doing, and what your expectations are? Please be assured that we try to build the software as optimally as possible, so there is no magic hidden switch to make it go faster. In turn, with the given information, I can only suggest to buy a bigger/faster server.

Allow me to compare to something we all know from file systems... copying files... there is a difference among

    1. Copying 1 file from your local hard drive to your local hard drive
    2. Copying 10,000 files from your local hard drive to your local hard drive
    3. Copying 1 file from your local hard drive to your network drive over your VPN from home to the office
    4. Copying 10,000 files from your local hard drive to your network drive over your VPN from home to the office
    5. ...or copying them to OneDrive/GDrive/S3... and what is the size of that 1 file, etc

So what are the dimenions... hardware in use, other system load, how many translation jobs do you have (active), size of the publication, amount of languages, size of the xml topics in Kb, integrations to translation management systems, roundtripping included, etc ... and the product version which is the shortest piece of information that identifies how the software is supposed to work.

Another idea is to reach out to Customer Support as analysis supported by logging could bring it closer to the heart of the problem or clarify the expectations.

    Thank you,
    Best wishes,
    Dave
