Is there an active notification method for alerting content owners that a review comment has been made on one of their topics in Review & Collaborate?

We have multiple authors/SMEs/Reviewers reviewing publication content in R&C. Other than actively parsing through the entire comment stream, is there a way for a content owner to know that a comment has been made on content that they are responsible for?

Currently there is no way to "assign" a comment to a specific user. A user can subscribe to a Publication or topic via RSS. In R&C, click the gear icon above the map or topic, and select subscribe. If you setup in your email application, the user will be notified of any new comment including a link to that topic. If subscribe within a browser, such as FIrefox, new comments will appear in the menu (my favorite way).

RSS requires simple setup by your Reach Administrator - from docs.sdl.com, select your version of LiveContent or Knowledge Center, and search for RSS to see instructions.

Hi Chip,

Thank you for the response. We are aware of the RSS feature. However, if you recall, our publications often include multiple content sets with several users in different roles. Setting up RSS feeds for every topic an owner is responsible for is not a viable solution and subscribing to the entire publication will result in several notifications for content the owner doesn't care about.

Is there another way to achieve what we are looking for? For instance, there is the ability to assign roles to objects (Author, SME, etc.). Wouldn't it be possible to assign the comment to the object owner somehow (ie Author)?

I've had a similar concern in R&C. For comments that I've made on topics or content, I don't get notified when someone responds directly to my comment. Chip, are you saying the ONLY way to receive notifications (which are general notifications of anyone's activity on the topic or document being subscribed to) is to create an RSS feed? I agree with Craig that this is not a feasible task for our authors and editors.

In our company, we have had issues where the reviewer assumed that the author would be automatically notified (which they weren't). Automatic notification is common in many other commenting systems (e.g. facebook for one!)--so much so that reviewers take it for granted.

In today's Roadmap meeting, they announced that they are overhauling the notification system in the tool. It looked promising, but likely won't be available until next year.

Hi,

We upgraded to TD 13 SP1 and have Collaborative Review version 7.6. I'm trying to figure out how to have a content owner get an email notice when someone adds a comment or replies to a comment. Whatever happened with this issue?
