  • I have a question regarding the translation job.

Our company integrates WorldServer into Tridion Docs for translation purposes. When multiple publications are selected to define a Translation job, or when a publication is added to a predefined Translation job, will a single translation project be created in WorldServer? This question pertains to the case where there is only one translation target language.

  • Hi HIrai-san,

As you post the question on the bootcamp recording - compared to regular forum - I assume you want it in context of the presentation. The changes in Tridion Docs 15.2.0 are all on the frontend side, so Organize Space UX. The "Translation Organizer" backend integration towards WorldServer and the other TMSs is unchanged.

So the behavior is still the same. Translation Jobs on the CMS side holding publications (in turn expanded to content objects) are way larger than most translation management systems can hold. They have limitations in actual byte size, actual row count, workflow, language pairs, etc. So the CMS TranslationJob has a 1-to-many relationship to TMS/WorldServer TranslationJobs. TranslationOrganizer keeps track of that.

Below a screenshot out of Tridion Docs 14SP2 bootcamps, also available here on  SDL Tridion Docs 14 SP2 - Bootcamp session 3 of 6 near minute 22. I think it still stands, if somebody can think about more public resources, the please share.

    Best wishes,
    Dave

  • Hi Dave,

Sure. My question relates to this bootcamp video.

I understand that even when multiple publications are selected for a translation job, separate translation projects are created in the translation management system for each publication.

I'm asking because we’d like to reduce translation costs. Some LSPs apply a minimum charge for small text volumes, so it would help if we could group topics from multiple publications into a single translation job especially when there are only minor changes.

I'll submit this enhancement request on the Tridion Docs Idea Forum.

    Thank you for the clarification.

    Kind regards,
    Naoki
