Can you access this page if you are using GS 2014 SP1? http://<servername>/documentation/api

If not, that might be the issue. Sometimes the GS license does not include the license for API, if you reach out to Support, they can replace your license with one that includes API.

Could you please provide the log files from your GroupShare Server which are placed in C:\ProgramData\SDL\Service\Logs

An indicate at what date and time you tried to send a call.

You can either attach to the forum, or if you don't want to publicly send by e-mail to llopes@sdl.com

I'm travelling currently so can't guarantee a speedy reply, so posting in the forum will probably be faster to resolve as others can comment.

Tried to install a fresh copy of Groupshare 2014 SP1, but response is a same: "Error occurred while sending a direct message or getting the response."

Are you sure you are inputting the correct password for the SA user and the resulting token?

yes, I'm sure that password and token are correct. Tried even with another valid username and password, but result is a same.

Can you share the code you are using? My sample code is outdated and might have changed from:

http://${server}/authentication/api/0.7/login/"

to

http://${server}/authentication/api/1.0/login/"
