Is it possible to update a custom TM Attribute through Trados Studio SDK?

We are using SDL WorldServer Translation Memory from Trados Studio. 
 _tm_entry_comment is our custom TM Attribute in WorldServer. 
 Is it possible to update the custom TM Attribute from Trados Studio using Trados Studio SDK (programatically)?

I believe that the only option you have to update your TM entry attribute is to retrieve the segment from the TM using the WS SDK after it has been added in the TM and then set the value. 
 
Or you update TM attribute by mapping them with AIS properties, which would not require any programming. 
 
I am not sure if this is the best solution but I can't think about anything else.
