The review-verify feature in Trados Studio (desktop software) is very important and useful. However, it has several issues that need improvement and enhancement.
- The tag verifier settings cannot save the configured profiles, requiring manual readjustment each time verification is performed.
- When loading previously saved profiles in the terminology verifier, the "verification setting" does not change despite the profile being loaded (I reported this bug earlier, but it persists, seemingly even in Trados Studio 2024 desktop software).
- Add verification for other non-translatable elements such as numbers and acronyms, especially in combinations of numbers and capital letters. In these cases, numbers become non-translatable elements, but consistency between source and target text in terms of numbers, letters, symbols, and other non-translatable elements must be ensured. For instance, whether "65XKTIL-47K" in the source text is correctly rendered as "65XKTIL-47K" in the target text.
- Include verification for the formatting of the source text, such as font color, bold, italics, highlight color, superscript, subscript, and font size, to ensure they are correctly retained in the target text.
- Improve the speed and accuracy of terminology verification. Enable fast verification of multiple loaded terminology databases simultaneously and quickly verify large terminology databases containing tens of thousands of terms.
- Add checks and validation for prohibited words in the target text; check whether the words or phrase from "list of strictly prohibited words" have appeared in the target language or not.
- Utilize AI tools like ChatGPT to add checks for spelling, punctuation, and grammar in the target text.
- After review-verify in Trados Studio, if translators modify and confirm segments flagged as "errors," the Trados studio (the computer software) experiences significant lag. It seems to re-execute "verify" for each confirmed segment, indicating a long-standing bug.
- Enhance the processing speed of review-verify. Currently, Trados Studio is slow in handling large files and “verify”, especially when source segments exceed 10,000. Even with high computer configurations, the “verify” process takes a long time, failing to meet translation management needs.
- Please collect feedback from other translators regarding “verify” requirements during the translation process. Leverage collective wisdom to improve the review-verify function, ensuring it meets practical translation and translation management needs.
the picture is about the fact that trados can not save the verify profile for tag verifier.
