Please enhance the support for Arabic translation projects in Trados Studio (desktop software).

Arabic is one of the six official languages of the United Nations, used by hundreds of millions of people worldwide, and is written from right to left. However, Trados Studio (desktop software) currently does not display some Arabic translation projects correctly. Please address this issue as soon as possible. For example, after converting files using the sdllixff converter and importing them into Trados Studio (desktop software), the display order of Arabic in Trados Studio is incorrect and noticeably different from the content in Microsoft Word documents.

to solve this issue, export SDLXliff to Excel, distribute it to translators,

after translation, convert Excel to TMX, import it to your SDLTM, and run pre-translate from batch tasks

it  is a multi-step but efficient

    Solution-2:

    use this plugin

    Job Assignment

    Job Assignment:

This is undoubtedly a favorite of all project managers. For files received for translation, a PM can use this module to exclude all segments that have an exact or fuzzy match against your TMs and among the files themselves as well as those that are perfectly translated by your private MT model, and re-generate one or more new documents with all these segments marked “NOT TO TRANSLATE” for job assignment to other translators.

On completion of the assignment, a PM just selects translated documents from his or her translators and all project data, including project TM and main TM, will be updated instantly.

The most beloved feature of reviewers and project managers. In fact, their professional life cannot go on without this amazing feature!

Generate a bilingual document for review in its original layout and formatting, and on completion of review, all project files and translation memories can be updated with the reviewed document.

  •  don't forget that the flow you are using is intended for light editing and not full translation.  It sounds to me as though you would be better off using Language Cloud and giving these translators access to the Online Editor to work.  It's much simplified compared to Studio, they don't need to install anything, and it's not much different to working in that table.  Probably half a dozen simple instructions would enable them, and you'd avoid all these workarounds and the problems they create.

  • Why they cannot use Studio well? What is the problem?

Thank you for your reply, not all the Arabic translator can use trados studio very well, therefore, sometimes, we have to ask the Arabic translators to translate in the Microsoft  word document double-column table and then change Microsoft Word double-column table into sdlxliff and import to trados studios.

    Best regards

  • I'm quite sure that this works in standard flow, if you translate to Arabic and save as target. SDLXLIFF convertor doesn't support Bi-Di language fully, but that's not the main flow.
