Exactly, I'm talking about the DBCS languages like Japanese, Thai, etc.
According to Paul the RWS Subtitling plugin already has this feature (which I haven't tested so far).
I'd be happy to also see an implementation for other use cases.

Did I really say that somewhere?  I don't think the subtitling plugin has support for bytes.  The Multilingual Excel filetype can support pixel lengths, but I don't think I can think of any that have support for bytes in this regard.  Perhaps I'm just getting old!

Sorry, I think I got it wrong on my end (referring to this one:  Letters count /characters count in BYTE count in Studio 2022).
You said that the Subtitling plugin supports length verification, but I assume you only mean the character-based one.
I also tested the Multilingual Excel file type (which works great for what is does), but we indeed need a byte-based approach - hence the Community idea :-)

Julian Hamm  - ah yes.  Worth raising the idea!  Might be worth also raising it in the AppStore ideas as you may get what you want sooner that way.  Might even be worth someone creating a length verification plugin that supports all kinds of units and ways of measuring.
