Hi Clif,
When you paste from one DIV to another, are both open or do you copy from the source, close it, then open the destination DIV and paste? What do you see in the destination division? I am able to copy/paste “ and ” without a problem using MobaXterm. Perhaps it has something to do with the VcXsrv clipboard.
Sharon
Hi, Sharon. We leave the source DIV open while pasting in the destination DIV. Here is what we see:
source DIV
line editor for above
destination DIV
line editor for above
We have no trouble with this copy when using XPP 9.6 in MobaXterm. It is only when we copy using XPP 9.7 that we see this issue. And the issue also happens when using Putty.
What are your X11 settings for MobaXterm? Here are ours:
Any help is appreciated.
Regards,
Clif.
Hi Clif,
The only difference in settings is X11 remote access is set to "full" for me.
Sharon
I changed to the "full" setting but no luck. What version of MobaXterm are you using? This is mine:
I'm probably wasting my time with these questions about MobaXterm since, as I said earlier, this also happens with Putty. Still, I'll pursue any angle at this point.
Hi, Sharon. Maybe it would help if we change the focus of my question to why the copies work within a DIV but not to another DIV or to elsewhere.
Here is a summary of what is happening.
To me, the question marks indicate unknown characters.
Are there any kinds of UTF-8 settings that XPP looks at for servers? Perhaps our new server for 9.7 has something wrong or missing.
Just taking shots in the dark...
Regards,
Clif.
Two quick questions:
1. When you echo from the command line `echo %LANG%`, do you get en_US.UTF-8?
2. If you fromxsf/toxsf from the one DIV to another DIV, does that behave correctly?
Answer #1
running echo $LANG on both our old 9.6 server and our new 9.7 server yields "en_US.UTF-8"
Answer #2
I ran fromxsf and saved it to file trawz. I then imported trawz into a new DIV, composed, and both “ and ” look good.
