SR3 disaster 2

I just installed the new SR3 update and this is what I get:

Is it unavoidable to go through all the setup - I assumed this was only update, not new installation of the program??

And even worse - after months of waiting still no fix for the buggy desktop items you can see example of under "Available languages" in the image above! I filed a case for this for some months ago and was also asking for solutions here in the forum - still no usable solutions or fixes.

  • Hello Fridrik,

No way around the licences other than to purchase a Professional licence and then the number of languages isn't an issue. Obviously not a real solution for you, but that is the only way.

On the resolution. Have you tried applying this fix which has worked for most users I have implemented this into:

    kb.sdl.com/

Workaround 3 is the one that provides the best solution.

It also helps other applications, such as InDesign where you might have the same issue.

    Regards

  • Thank you Paul but please take time to read my msg. before ansvering. Im not complaining about number of languages. Im a long time user of Studio and have the Freelance 2015 licence. After installing the first SR3 update it stopped working and after installing the supposedly fixed SR3 update yesterday I got this setup window like Im installing a new program. That is not the case.

Reg. the "resolution": The workarounds only fix the issue partly. The resolution it self is mostly ok now (exept some icons and the termbase viewer, etc.).
I will not use Workaround 3 for two reasons: 1. This does not look like a resolution issue at all - and 2. Im using Win. 10 on a Mac with Bootcamp and feel its risky, I have limited Windows core knowledge and there is also no Windows button on my keyboard.

I feel I have the right for simple update as a paying customer - as I was promised. This is not uncommon setup or screen resolution though its not the regular.

    Best regards,
    Fridrik Fr.
  • Dear Fridrik,

ok. In this case please log a case, either through your support contract or using this link if you don't have one:

    http://support.xl8.one

Just fill in the form and submit it. Make sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

On the hi-res issue. Of course you have a right to see this working. A lot of work was done for the 2017 release to support hi-res screens but there are rough edges here and there. So if you don't wish to use this workaround then you will have to wait for the update that does fix it, or when you log your case ask the supoprt engineer if he'll apply the fix for you (unless you don't feel it's appropriate at all). Thank you for reporting it.
