Does the same happen if you right-click the file (first Studio, then MultiTerm) and chose "Run as administrator"?

I assume you run Windows 10. Please check in your system settings, if you allow the installation of non-Microsoft apps.

Hi yes I actually changed that setting the other day to allow my computer to accept non-Microsoft apps (but to warn me before installing them) as I saw that as a suggestion.   This made no difference before (when installing 2015 and 2017 though I had windows 8 then) when I had it to accept appsf rom the Microsoft Store which is the recommended setting.

Please try the following solutions: 

1. Disable User Account Control on your computer: https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0028994

2. Turn of your antivirus, run the installers and when the installation is finished turn it back on.

3. Disable the SmartScreen Filter in Windows 10: https://www.maketecheasier.com/disable-smartscreen-filter-windows10/

The first step does not work for me as I am the only account on the computer so the only administrator and the option of never being notified of changes as it says in that article you included is not available.  As to step 2, I have seen the suggestion elsewehere about turning off the antivirus but I am somewhat wary of doing that even for a few minutes.    Step 3 is the same.   I do not know why Windows 10 is throwing this obstacle in the way of installing an SDL product when SDL is a very legitimate company.  By the way should I delete those two .exe files and download them again before re-installing.   

I tried step 3. It made no difference to the message I get saying this app can't run .... I am unwilling as I said to risk my computer's security and this should not be happening at all.  

Slightly unnrelated to this is an email I got a while ago from SDL saying I earned a level 3 achievement but all I have done is ask a question, not answer someone else's.  This is bizarre but the issue at hand is more important. thanks.

This is not a Studio related issue as other customers can install it without any issues. This rarely happens and when it does it`s due to antivirus or some settings on your operating system that are preventing application to install. If you are not willing to try all my suggestions I would recommend to contact Microsoft as they should know more about this kind of issues.

OK it is not that I am unwilling as such but unwilling to risk my computer's security.  I agree that is probably not SDL issue. Definitely windows 10 I think.  I will get onto microsoft about it.  I have tried the compatibility troubleshooter but it is not letting me 'test the program' at a certain stage of the process.   Very wierd.  Thanks for trying anyway.  I may turn off the antivirus later on if I really have to, but for now I am not sure I should.

If I may ask one more question for the time being.  Should I keep those two .exe files - Studio and Multiterm - on my desktop until I do take action or should I delete them and try to download them again later? If that's even allowed.
