In my account 2 older licences/downloads are missing (update to Trados 7X and SDL Trados Suite 2007 Freelance-Version 8. ) Is there a way to upload again the missing licenses for these 2 programs?

Hello,

In my TRADOS account 2 older licences/downloads are missing (update to Trados 7X and SDL Trados Suite 2007 Freelance-Version 8/ PO Ns 119555 and 159774 respectively). I need to reinstall my SDL Trados Suite 2007 Freelance and activate it urgenly in my PC. Is there a way to upload again the missing licenses for these 2 programs? Also, I have already purchased Trados 2014 and in my Products Trados 2009 is also added even if I did not request this program. MTIA . Kind regards Irene Blatza

  • Hello Paul,
Thank you for your answer. I upgraded older versions in the past and this has never happened before. In fact the license of Trados 6.5 is still there, I can download it but nobody uses this application anymore. So why should Trados 2007 and Freelance Suite be removed? Besides, as far as I know it was possible to keep the licenses of older versions when upgrading to Trados 2009 and 2011. I need Trados 2007 because many of my clients still use this version and also because I have purchased these licences. Could you please discuss the matter with your colleagues/team/direction department and try to recover my old licenses for me? I really appreciate your help. MTIA -Irene

    Hi Irene,

Two things here. The first one is that just because your clients use Trados doesn't mean you have to.  It is perfectly posible to work with your clients using Studio.  If you have questions specifically relating to how to do this we can help you with that.

The second thing is that you purchased Trados and then exchanged them for Studio based on the price you paid.  So in effect no longer own them.  If you were to partexchange a car you wouldn't expect to keep the old car... same principle here I think.  I have no idea what happened with older versions but it entirely depends what the deal was at the time.  However, I will pass this onto the sales team and see what can be done, in the meantime I think you should investigate working without Trados... you may be surprised.
