Upgraded from Trados 2021 to 2022. After formatting the computer, I can't activate the 2021 version, only Trados 2022.

It's basically what the title says. I went through the RWS Gateway topics and found in one of them that I would need to have Trados 2022 already activated in the computer (which I do), Trados 2021 running with the latest update (which is also true in my case), and use Licence Manager v17, which I did download but it does nothing for me.

As I have upgraded from 2021 to 2022, the Trados 2021 license key isn't under my Licences listed in my account, only the 2022 key (which I reset and then used to re-activate Trados 2022). The 2022 key is all I have, so I am trying to use it on Trados Studio 2021 Product Activation window, which of course doesn't work - the "Invalid Product Key" error is all I get. What should I do? I do need to run 2021 along with 2022 for two reasons, one of my clients' projects is still in 2021 and some Add-ins I use for another project are not yet available on Trados 2022.

  • Is Studio 2022 activated?
Yes, it was activated prior to me formatting the computer. After formatting it, I reinstalled Trados 2022 after doing the process of resetting my license and waiting at least 30 minutes before imputing the product key.

Had you installed first S2021 without starting it and then S2022 and activated only this?

This I can't recall. I have probably installed both before activating Trados 2022, since I do remember downloading both installing programs at the same time and then doing the reset license procedure afterward. I do remember not running Trados 2021 before activating Trados 2022.

For what I know this also should have activated S2021.
I am currently running 2021 in the trial version; it is requiring me to input a license key. The only key I have is Trados 2022's key (after doing the upgrade from 2021, the 2021 key vanished from the Licenses in my account). If I attempt to use the S2022 key for S2021, it gives the error I mentioned before.

If not, follow the advices https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001616

Unfortunately, this wasn't helpful, it does provide guidance on how to reset a license key for using it on another install, which I have already done.

It might help to mention that I have also carefully read and followed what is described here:
