Yes, to use Studio 2021 you need a 2021 license and you can upgrade your current 2017 license to 2021 as described in this article: https://gateway.rws.com/csm?id=kb_article_view&sysparm_article=KB0039975
Note: For Freelance licenses like your is not necessary to deactivate the current version.
Thank you,

Hi Sorin,
This is what I thought: I need a license number for Trados Studio 2021 as well. BUT: If I go to my licenses page on RWS, only the license for Trados Studio 2017 is shown. I will have a look into the link you sent me ;).
If I don't need to deactivate my Trados 2017 freelance license, I can run both versions on my computer? 2017 AND 2021. Is this correct?
THANKS AGAIN and best regards
Rosi
Hi Sorin,
It's me again :).
The following upgrade possibilities are mentioned under the link you sent me:
I'm missing from 2017 to 2021 (this is also the upgrade package I acquired).
THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP
Rosi
If you don`t deactivate the 2017 license before processing the upgrade you will be able to use both versions until the 2017 license needs to be reactivated (for example you reinstall Windows). The upgrade from 2017 to 2021 is exactly the same as the others but we didn`t put all the existing options in order not to make the article too long and hard to read.
Thank you,
Sorin
OK, fine :).
So all I need now is the license number for Trados Studio 2021, wihch I cannot find under https://oos.sdl.com/asp/products/ssl/account/mylicenses/licenses.aspx.
What can I do?
Thanks again,
Rosi
Hi Sorin Perta
In order to see the 2021 license you need to process the upgrade from your RWS account as described in the article I sent.
You need to click on Your available upgrades > Upgrade > Process Upgrade.
Thank you,
Sorin
Hi Sorin,
This is what I did before already, but when I click on "Upgrade verarbeiten", nothing will happen. In the field "Menge" I can select between 0 and 1. Either way, nothing happens.
Thanks again for your help
Rosi
Unfortunately, I cannot send you a screenshot. There is only one upgrade available for Trados Studio 2017 Freelance to Trados Studio 2021 Freelance. I get the following messages:
Sie haben folgende Produktupgrades erworben und können diese jetzt verwenden.
Wählen Sie mindestens eine Lizenz für das Upgrade aus."
Where do I select the "Lizenz für das Upgrade"?
Thanks again
Rosi
