BUGS

So first of all a big
Thank you!

Since the first Cumulative Update for SDL Trados Studio 2014 SP2, SDL MultiTerm 2014 SP2 and SDL Studio GroupShare 2014 SP2 over 100 bugs where crushed. We are talking about only 3 months time frame!

You might be thinking that fixing bugs is extremely easy as the people have studied what they are doing and technically everything is the same...but you probably got a wrong impression!

Writing code (variations of data that are typed out in a computer language) for applications and all the features included that need to interact with all kind of other interfaces requires quite an amount of time but in simple terms is like writing a list of instructions what the application needs to do one after another when you press a button or click here and there.
But when it comes to fix issues/bugs for existing "lists of instructions" it is getting tricky.
The programs that compile the code can often help during the process and check the code and point to the relevant lines if there is something not okay. But this doesn´t work always out and then just imagine you have a list of 1000 lines of code and in only 1 line something is causing trouble and there is no verification check popping up saying: "Hello, you find the problem in line XYZ".
The developers need to figure out the location and then also check why the written instruction is or isn´t doing what it was supposed to do. This can then quickly results in a large amount of hours or days for fixing something.
In the worst-case scenarios the developers need to rewrite the complete code, so the application is finally doing what it is supposed to do.
At the end the Product Management ensures that the Developers will fix the bugs and not let you stay alone in the rain.
Sometimes it just takes a bit longer for some bugs to be squashed.
That is not everything....
Besides all the bug fixing there is even more going on! Creating new features, enhancements, introduce new technologies, listening to requirements from our customer base that will be introduced and many many more things is just a glimpse of the daily work....
Maybe you missed it but SDL Trados Studio 2015, SDL MultiTerm 2015 and SDL Studio GroupShare 2015 are coming closer!
Especially SDL Trados Studio will introduce several new features and enhancements our Product Management and Developers where working on that might be extremely useful for translators, reviewer etc.
