Project Server: adapting local project settings after check out

Hi,

while experimenting with PS, I noticed that the checked out projects don't have the full scope of the project settings. I am sure that this is partly by design. Then again, picture this scenario: PM creates a project based on a template. The TM in the project has Custom Fields, which needs to be filled on a project-by-project basis. Fields like "Project ID" or "Subject", which vary from project to project.

Once assigned to a translator, the translator checks out the project and before starting work in Studio, s/he wants to edit the Update section of the TM settings. This is not possible!

In my opinion, this is a serious drawback. It should be possible for individual users who have checked out a project to edit large parts of the project settings. I get the idea of limiting some parts of project settings (like QA, FTD settings...) in a PS project, but Search, Filter, Update settings under the TM must remain open to translators to adapt locally.

Unless I've overseen something big in the permissions schemes, I fear this is a major drawback of PS which needs to be addressed.

Thanks for your consideration,
Andreas
