Groupshare speed

Good Morning,
We have groupshare installed on a windows server 2008 with sql 2014. Client teams have them with windows 7 and Trados 2017. Many times, when one of the project manager is creating a project, it slows down a lot groupshare for the rest of colleagues.

Is there a way to analyze what is happening? The resources of the server do not reach even 50%. Both the RAM and the processor and the network are left over.

Maybe you need to periodically maintain sql server tables?

I hope you can help me.

Thank you very much

  • Hi Lander,

In the forum, we can only help so much, so I would suggest ideally you contact our support team as they can work with you on your specific configuration.

One Project Manager creating a project should not really have any impact on the rest of the colleagues, if it does it points to very under-powered hardware. When creating a project from Studio all the processing happens on the client, the only thing happening on the server is pre-translation and analysis against the TM.

I would suggest the first thing to check is your SQL Server, to make sure it has enough RAM and fast disks, this is always the first bottleneck with GroupShare, the Application Server doesn't really need power.
Also if SQL and GS are on the same machine, one thing that can help is moving the SQL Server to it's own machine, but obviously this may create additional cost for you.

Just some initial hints, as mentioned if you reach out to our support they can look at the system and give some more concrete recommendations.

    Thanks,
    Luis
